How To Prepare Your Home for a New Washing Machine

So, you’ve decided that you are in need of a new washing machine, found the perfect make and model, put in an order and you’re now waiting patiently for delivery. Yet, what do you do now? You may or may not know it, but there are a few things that you can do to prepare your home before your new washing machine arrives and make sure that delivery is an easy process.

What Route Should The Delivery Take?

If you have chosen for our colleagues to deliver your new washing machine, then it is helpful if you check that it will be easy for our lorry to reach your home. This means, whether your road is accessible and if there will be space to safely park.

It’ll also be helpful to check whether your washing machine will fit through your doorway through to the space you’ve chosen and measured up. Walk through and measure each doorway against the dimensions of your new appliance and ensure any obstacles are moved out of the way.

Double Check Your Measurements

Of course, when choosing your new washing machine, you’ll have measured up the space you have in mind and ensured the appliance will fit. However, it’s always good to double-check, mistakes are easy to make! Measure accurately the height, the width and depth, from the product page on our website.

If you haven’t already, it can also be a good idea to check that you’ll have enough room to open the front door of your washing machine and that it’ll have a 2.5cm gap either side and 15cm at the back for proper ventilation.

Check Your Connections

Once you’re confident that the appliance will fit perfectly, it’s also a good idea to check that you have all the right connections. These will either be located at the back wall of where you washer is being fitted, or will be underneath your sink. The connections you’ll need are:

• A cold water supply
• A wastewater pipe
• An electrical connection

Keep in mind that these should also be about 1.5m or less away from where your new washing machine will be and any adjustments should be made by a trained plumber and electrician. What’s more, any items blocking these connections should be moved to make sure connecting up the appliance is as quick as possible and you have a working appliance right away on delivery.

Have Your Wi-Fi Password to Hand

This may sound like an odd one, we admit! However, if you have chosen a smart model of washing machine, you’ll need to connect it to the internet.

You’ll also need a smartphone or tablet to download any apps you need to control your new washing machine.

Once all this is done, all you have to do is sit back, relax and wait for your new appliance to be delivered!
